Overview

A one-day course that teaches managers and leaders to coach the people they manage. It covers what coaching is, the coaching style of leadership, listening and questioning skills, and a seven-step coaching structure, ending with a personal action plan. The pack contains everything needed to deliver the session in a classroom or online, and every file is editable and rebrandable.

Format. One day (about 7 hours including breaks); can be split into two half days or a series of two-hour online sessions. Designed for classroom delivery and adaptable to live online sessions.

Traditional versus coaching management, directive versus non-directive approaches, benefits, when to coach and when not to, and common hurdles.

The ethos and skills of an effective coach, with focused work on listening levels and open questioning technique.

A seven-step coaching model, from visualising the ideal outcome through SMART goals and small steps to action and review.

Role-play practice using assigned coach, coachee and observer roles, followed by a review of common coaching errors.

Each participant builds an action plan for developing their own coaching skills after the session.
