Overview

A scenario-based, self-paced e-learning course on emotional intelligence at work. Learners step into the moments where feeling runs ahead of judgment — criticism landing in front of the team, a colleague who has gone quiet, a message read as an attack — choose how to respond, and see what the reaction costs them, then learn how to name the emotion, steady it, and answer what the other person is really saying. Delivered as a SCORM 1.2 package for your LMS, with completion tracking.

Format. Self-paced, scenario-based e-learning. SCORM 1.2 — upload it to your LMS and completion tracks automatically.

Runtime. About 25 minutes of learner time, in 4 sessions the package spaces 2, 5 and 30 days apart. Measured from the narration in the package at the speed it plays, plus the time to read and answer what is on screen. It assumes you listen rather than reading ahead; times vary with the path you take and how fast you read.

Who it is for. Any organisation that wants to run this as self-paced learning; suitable for employees at any level.

What learners take away

  • Identify what emotional intelligence is and why it is important
  • Recognize and manage your own emotions
  • Apply techniques for recognizing and inspiring emotions in others
  • Examine how emotional intelligence operates at work and in leadership
  • Set up a personal action plan to develop emotional intelligence

Course outline

Participants define emotional intelligence, complete a baseline EQ questionnaire, test six common myths, review the advantages of high EQ and meet Goleman's four-element model.

Covers self-awareness and self-management, including the wheel of emotions, the 'whys' technique for tracing triggers, and practical steps for improving both abilities.

Covers social awareness and relationship management through activities on decoding emotions in others and building stronger working relationships.

Examines organizational EQ, its benefits for employees and the business, and emotionally intelligent leadership; scalable down for non-management groups.

Learners return to their questionnaire results and build a four-step EQ action plan to keep developing.
